Картофелекопалка
Machine.
Two Models · 3 & 5 Rows · 75–85 cv · Watanabe
The Watanabe R-380 and R-580 potato furrower machines open precise, uniform furrows for potato planting in a single tractor pass — creating the ideal seedbed geometry for maximum tuber yield.
Two Potato Furrower Models.
Three Rows or Five Rows.
The R-380 and R-580 share the same robust frame design and Category 2 hitch system. Choose based on your row configuration and tractor power — 3-row for smaller operations, 5-row for higher output.
The R-380 is the compact 3-row potato furrower suited for small to medium-scale potato operations. At 500 kg and requiring just 75 cv, it pairs efficiently with mid-range tractors and is ideal for operations where field size or headland turning space limits the use of wider machines.
- 3 furrow openers — matched to 3-row planting configuration
- 500 kg lightweight design — minimal soil compaction from machine weight
- 75 cv minimum — pairs with standard mid-range tractors
- Category 2 three-point hitch — easy attachment and detachment
- 5–8 km/h working speed — high daily output on smaller plots
The R-580 opens 5 furrows simultaneously for higher daily output on medium to large-scale potato operations. At 620 kg and 85 cv minimum, it delivers 67% more coverage per pass than the R-380 — directly reducing the number of passes needed to prepare a field for planting and cutting tractor hours accordingly.
- 5 furrow openers — 67% more coverage per pass than 3-row model
- 620 kg — heavier build for improved furrow depth consistency
- 85 cv minimum — suited to full-size farm tractors
- Matches 5-row planting configuration for zero re-alignment between furrowing and planting
- 5–8 km/h working speed — same speed range as R-380 for easy operation transition
Precision Furrow Opening in Three Steps
The potato furrower prepares the seedbed geometry for planting in a single pass — consistent furrow depth, spacing, and profile are critical for uniform germination and mechanical harvesting efficiency.
The leading share blades penetrate the prepared seedbed at the set working depth. Consistent soil penetration requires a firm, stone-free seedbed — ideally prepared by a rotavator pass before furrowing. Rocky soils should be cleared with a rock rake or rock picker first.
The angled furrower bodies displace soil laterally, forming the V-shaped furrow profile. Furrow depth and width are set by the furrower geometry — consistent across all rows simultaneously for uniform planting conditions regardless of row position.
Displaced soil forms ridges between furrows. The ridge height and profile determine tuber development space and drainage characteristics. Well-formed ridges improve drainage around the seed potato, reducing rot risk in wet seasons and making mechanical harvesting more efficient.
Where the Furrower Fits in the Potato Workflow
The R-380 and R-580 are Stage 1 of the Watanabe potato machinery system — the first field operation after soil preparation. Each stage uses a dedicated Watanabe machine, all available from the same supplier.

Картофелекопалка Applications
The R-380 and R-580 are designed for potato cultivation but are equally effective for any row crop requiring precision furrow preparation — from sweet potato and yam to onion and garlic.
Opens uniform furrows in prepared seedbed for seed potato placement. Consistent furrow depth and spacing directly improves germination uniformity and mechanical harvesting efficiency — reducing tuber damage and labour cost at harvest.
The raised ridge profile formed by the furrower provides excellent drainage and aeration for sweet potato and yam — root crops that require well-drained, loose soil for maximum tuber size and minimal rot. Adjustable furrow depth accommodates different tuber size targets.
The R-580's 5-row configuration covers large commercial potato farms efficiently. At 5–8 km/h working speed, a full day's furrowing prepares sufficient area to keep a multi-row planter fully occupied — maintaining planting schedules on time-sensitive commercial operations.
Precision furrow spacing matches standard onion and garlic planting row distances. The raised ridge profile improves drainage — critical for allium crops that are susceptible to waterlogging and basal rot in wet conditions. Used ahead of transplanting or direct seeding.

Both models share the same frame design, linkage system, and working speed range. The choice is straightforward — match the number of rows to your planting configuration and your tractor's power rating.
